ynab reconcile mobile app

It seems weird that you can connect to bank accounts from the mobile apps (a feature used infrequently and mainly during initial account set up), but you can’t reconcile the accounts themselves (a feature used very frequently by all YNAB users). Problem is people keep asking here for the feature and it does not get counted you need to do that through their feature request link that has been posted here a few times. … and when your YNAB account register matches your bank account statement, you click the “Reconcile Now” button on the top-right corner of the screen in YNAB’s web app: When you click that button, YNAB will ask you if the number in YNAB … This is unbelievable and stupid. It wouldn’t make sense for us to add the feature then redesign the app, but the team will certainly revisit it once the redesign is complete. YNAB you need to give us the ability to choose between using a browser or the APP while on a mobile device and please don't tell me it can not be done it is not that hard of a code change. I like to reconcile my accounts at the end of the month - specifically my investment tracking accounts. As we all patiently wait for reconciliation in the mobile app, I took the time to create an iOS shortcut using the YNAB API to update the balance of an account. Personal Budgeting Software for … I have two wishes...an undo button on the app and a reconcile account fuction on the app, Beige Filly Oh yes! Not always ideal. First of all, Go to ynab website in Safari and hold your finger down  on the refresh button (at the end of the website url/name) until menu appears and choose request desktop site, Then hold your finger down on the login until menu appears and then choose open in new tab, that then takes you to the login details on the website where you can access website version of ynab, note if you dont do above step everytime then it will take you to download app page on subsequent visits, Another option is to bookmark this url that might do it as well, https://app.youneedabudget.com/users/login, i tried this in chrome as well but it takes you to a page to download the app :( even with request desktop step but going to the url above worked fine in chrome. You Need A Budget 4 (YNAB 4) Mobile App Review: Accounts, Budget And Cloud Sync On The Go. Web app: 2016 (3.5 years from summer 2012). They know this is something users definitely want to see in the future, but we can't guarantee when it will be ready just yet. If you do, then we can have your shortcut listed in our Works with YNAB API section, once approved by our developers! The visual redesign is necessary to set new ground work for the mobile app. An option to reconcile within the mobile app would be wonderful!!! I'm learning about it at work and will be certified soon. I if I choose a desktop version on my mobile browser, that is what I want!!!! attitude feels patronizing. For context, I use the mobile app primarily. Most mobile browsers aren't suited for the web app, so it redirects to the mobile app. The only way to get the definitive amount on this card is via a special reading device which is installed in the cafeteria, and i do not reconcile this account without looking on this device, since sometimes I forget to add a lunch transaction or something similar. For example, we're beta testing inline calculations in all fields for the web and mobile, which many of our users have asked for! Faness how many of these do you actually need before you do something about it? Magenta Wildcat and Daniel Rufus I wish I had more concrete and better news, but honestly, I don't. I keep seeing people ask for this update and still have not seen it. Faness LOL, people have been asking for this over a year now. Since I have no computer with me at the cafeteria, I have to take down a note, and remember to reconcile with this noted account back at home/in the office. Do we all have to leave YNAB to get it done? One of the main reasons I moved to the new YNAB (was using classic YNAB till about a week ago) was so I didn’t have to keep using my laptop/desktop to budget since everything can now be done on the new YNAB mobile apps (at least I thought). Daniel Rufus I agree, would be nice to hear something given the traction this post has gotten. Now I know I can visit app.ynab.com on a mobile browser, but I’m prompted to switch to the app. This issue has been on here for at least 3 months. For context, I use the mobile app primarily. They sit around in a limbo zone until I get to a computer and can officially mark them as done. If you import transactions, many of them will be cleared in YNAB automatically. 2. We plan and intend to release a number of features to mobile, but the redesign is our first of many stepping stones. Thought others here might find it useful! I did a reconcile and then went back to my desktop to see and it did not transfer over and I had to do all the work over again. I do ALL entries manually and sometimes there might be a small discrepancy. Megan It's not supposed to be an option at the moment. :). Quicken (which I have uninstalled now that I am fully on yNAB) was able to do that, so I assume your Direct Import can as well. So in this case it would only really be for the tracking accounts. There isn't a set number of feature requests we aim for, but our development team collects them. I believe they can't do it or won't do it. Raising my hand for bringing this feature enhancement to the top of the list. It is not a secret that this feature has been requested for multiple years. We do realize reconciliation on mobile is a highly coveted feature and our development team has it on their radar. I'll yell my +1 into the howling storm of indifference. Do you also create manual balance adjustments for other types of budget accounts? And, frankly, the idea that a reconciliation feature couldn’t be included in the visual redesign is the type of excuse-making that seems to happen a lot here. I didn't realize the app wouldn't be allowed. I don’t understand why I can reconcile on my iPad via my browser but on my iPhone I can’t do the same??? Dan at YNAB awesome, sounds great! I can't say for certain how long it will take, but we do plan to make it happen - app willing. While that is being worked out in the app, is there no way to be able to use the YNAB website from our mobile browsers? Here's context:  During the recent version upgrade several of my accounts didn't perform Direct Import function accurately. Yes, while I really love YNAB, when I travel I still like to reconcile my accounts at the end of each week and with only the mobile app available it's not possible (unless I bring a laptop). Hey  Magenta Wildcat , thanks for that feature request with helpful context! :). For reconciling, I go through every few days and clear transactions that have posted to all my bank accounts. This would still be a manual step, so it would force us to stay involved with these accounts, but it would avoid the trouble of remembering the balance while switching apps. I don’t have a personal laptop and this is the 1st time I’ve had this issue in any app. Just wanted to make sure someone was seeing this thread since it had been marked answered :). Still redirected to the app suggestion. Faness if I understand Daniel Rufus  correctly, however, he (and many of us like Alice Blue Sidewinder  ) would like to be able to use our mobile browsers to access the YNAB  website and not be forced to use the app when using mobile devices. Faness  How do you get YNAB to even come up on your iPad? The reconcile function isn’t yet available in YNAB’s mobile app. Function isn’t in mobile, YNAB won’t let me use the web version on my iPad. The YNAB Mobile App Makes You a Better Budgeter. A discussion subreddit for popular budgeting software You Need A Budget. Agreed! I literally just swap between the bank app and the YNAB app on my phone checking each transaction and clearing them as needed. Unlike other apps, Mint is free to use, but it makes money by suggesting offers to its users, such as new credit cards or other investing apps. After 2 years of people asking for this and my 1 plus year of asking I gave up wit the last update of the IOS Safari now supports working on the YNAB web page with out the app. There are so many people asking for this in the app and we have been ignored for too long. They figured out how to make budgeting fun. If I ignore that and have my browser request a desktop website, I can reconcile there, but the website is not meant for a screen that small. Just click “HOUSING” and type your preferred title. I am sorry but I think there are a few steps missing in this. It makes the app pleasing to use due to how easily one can tell what parts of the app do what due to the clean and simple design. What does it take to get it escalated? This week they released YNAB 5 and it's clearly not aimed at me. Well once again, just like the move from the desktop program to web based app it’s missing basic features. I have been looking for a replacement for YNAB for little while now since they have not bothered to give this update. I've been experimenting lately with having cash as an account, rather than as a budget item. For context, I use the mobile app primarily. The visual redesign is to help with navigation in the mobile app and lay the ground work for future improvements and features. ... Be aware that you can only reconcile on the desktop app, not on mobile… If you already have location data enabled in iOS, you can use a shortcut by tapping on the gear icon in the YNAB app, then Location … My only guess is YNAB wants to drive traffic to its desktop site for some reason. I find that I don’t need to manually reconcile other budget accounts as the matching feature for imported vs manually entered transactions has been working flawlessly for me :). A reconciliation function in the mobile app would be much appreciated, especially since I just purchased an iPad to replace my broken laptop and it only supports the YNAB app, not the full online version. :). I can access it from my phone or from any computer–this is great, because I can track purchases on the move, or sit down at the end of the week to reconcile. You have control over how you classify them too. We want the mobile app to be as functional as the web app, but we have a long way to go (and a lot of things to cram into the mobile app). YNAB Best for: Visual learners :), I think it is important to make this a duel ask. I put in a request via the support page on this as well. Consequently, where once I trusted that my YNAB accounts were in sync with my Financial Account balances -- that was not the case anymore. With YNAB, if you have your phone (and we know you do), then you have your budget. We'll never stop improving YNAB, the web app and the mobile app! But before you get creeped out, think of the … Habanero Salsa Silver Drum I'm sorry I missed your replies earlier! After presenting the question of "what the heck?" :). Thanks!! I have been looking for a program for months now to replace YNAB since they don't seem to care about this feature at all and I know there are a lot of people out there who want it and have requested it but no response after that. Please, please, please add it in soon. What’s more fun for the development team? Daniel Rufus The above trick doesn't always work - some devices won't allow the work around. Unless  you are suggesting  we just go some where else. If we don't have access to a laptop or desktop computer, but rather just an iPad / iPhone / Android, we have no way to reconcile our accounts because we are forced to use the app which has no reconcile capability. Slate Gray Inspector great....wish they would move on this one and another one would be able to filter out what has been reconciled so you don’t have a long list of transactions. YNAB. The request is to have support in the mobile iOS app directly, as don’t want to touch a (desktop) web interface routinely! PLEASE BUMP UP this feature on the mobile app priority list!!! Reconciling is the easiest way to add an adjustment … Please add a way to adjust based on entering current account value. I know it's on the list but I just want to add my vote! I've discussed this at length on Nerds on Draft episode 19. They really don't want users to use the web page since it is not 100% and one thing you don't want to do with your finances is hope for the best when using the app. P.S. Since I’m not always at home on the last day of the month, it would be super helpful to be able to do this easily from my phone. We budget when and where we can — it’s part of our lifestyle and not limited to time sitting in front of a computer! That’s how I ended up here reading that you can not use the iPad on the web based service and I still have to go to the desktop to reconcile. I use YNAB on all my devices and because I’m still getting the hang of how to handle splitwise and reimbursements, I do have to do some reconciliations every now and then to keep the accounts accurate. Are you sharing it from your Mac? Reconciliation draws a line in the sand that limits how far back you need to look when troubleshooting. Aside from this reconcile feature, the mobile app can do nearly everything else I regularly use. Worth a sprint or two perhaps? (Is that a word?) The way I do this is by reconciling the account against the current balance, which creates a transaction for the amount of growth (or loss ) that I had on that account in that given week. I have been a user since the desktop app. :). Since I’m not always at home on the last day of the month, it would be super helpful to be able to do this easily from my phone. I reluctantly moved over because of syncing and wanted to use tablet and YNAB stopped development on desktop app. Started following the routine yesterday morning while sitting at my desktop PC. If you prefer the mobile browser option, you can let our development team know in a Feature Request. Enter your login credentials and follow the prompts. The sole point of clearing & reconciliation is to ensure YNAB agrees with the real world. We need and UNDO on the app To go along with the RECONCILE...because stuff happens...and it is even easier to make a mistake on a phone given no keyboard. Good reminder to everyone else interested in getting mobile reconciliation though. It's impossible for me to do this tracking account update from mobile. If I were traveling, then I would have to either carry my laptop with me or look for Internet cafes just to reconcile my accounts. Please don't continue to force us to us an APP that does not have reconcile ability. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfNVCZCXFaokj9PjsnKXDau5-F2-cu-rdK9AgrBkdAa_xgjww/viewform. I really don't want to do that I have a lot of time invested in this program. If everyone does it that way they may understand it. You realize that, right? Thanks for submitting your feedback too, that goes straight to our design/development team and they plan future features based on that feedback! I see our API team is double checking on things, so fingers crossed! It just wants to open an app on my iPad. 3 1. The ynab reconcile functionality is in no way available on the mobile app, though you could theoretically do it from the browser. It is, by far, the best budgeting app. It was a bit disappointing as this is my monthly process and since using YNAB, I've grown accustomed to doing it. Something has been majorly screwed up at YNAB dev headquarters for a long time. YNAB is now available for Mac users, as an iPhone app and on the iPad. Can we get an update on when this may happen? Which is more valuable for the users? We all know what is the most difficult part of budgeting – it’s being behind on your finances and spending this month’s … I was told mobile browsers can't support the web app, but in some rare cases the 'View Desktop' option in some mobile browsers works. Still no movement on this one — i just submitted three feature requests again:  reconcile in app, spending report in app and using web-version from iPad browser. Simply use my Android client to reconcile against a displayed online balance. Thanks for helping with that! I'm sorry you feel this way! I have never seen any real response about it other then add the request and they will get to it some time in the future. :). We do want the mobile app to eventually be fully featured, so thank you for letting us know reconciliation is something you'd like to see sooner rather than later. You can see in the screenshot below I clicked ‘mortgage’ and can change it to ‘rent.’ Or, since I don’t pay HOA dues, I can click the trash can and get rid of that line. Would be better built in. 1. This morning (Saturday), while doing the casual iPad web browsing and life organization stuff, I started the YNAB app to do my daily reconciliation ...
